Lady Gaga has received two Oscar nominations for her incredible work in the movie A Star Is Born.
The 32-year-old singer, entertainer was nominated for both Best Actress and Best Original Song for co-writing “Shallow.”
Lady Gaga told The New York Times that she was sleeping that’s why she missed the nominations announcement. Later she was informed about the nominations by her manager Bobby Campbell.
“I’ve been trying to get some sleep because I’m on showbiz time,” Gaga said. “I woke up around 8:30 and I didn’t know anything about it.” When she heard the news she says she “just burst into tears.”
“The ones that mean the most to me are the ones that come from my family,” she said about the messages from her loved ones. “These are not Oscar nominations for me, these are Oscar nominations for the Germanottas. I come from an Italian-immigrant family, and this feels like a very big win for them. This film was a lot of hard work, and I wouldn’t know that hard work if I didn’t know the hard work of the lineage of my family.”
A Star Is Born has received eight total nominations at the Oscars.
